The questions boards and owners ask, one guide for each.
“A geotube won’t last.”
A geotube fails in three ways: bare fabric in the sun, the wrong fill, or a cut at the waterline.
Why geotube installations fail“Why not riprap?”
Riprap fits a canal with boat wake, an outfall, the toe of a seawall or a large lake with wind-driven waves. It is not the answer when you want lawn down to the water.
Geotube, riprap or concrete matsWhat does lake bank repair cost?
Most jobs fall between $50,000 and $500,000, and the realistic minimum is about $10,000. Access, permits, the lake bottom and the length of shoreline move the price.
Lake bank repair cost in South FloridaWho is responsible for the bank?
Under Florida’s Rule 62-330.310(6), the entity that operates and maintains a permitted stormwater system stays liable for compliance with its permit in perpetuity.
Who is responsible for lake bank erosion in a Florida HOADo we need a permit in Broward County?
It depends on the district. The South Broward Drainage District requires its own permit for any erosion restoration work inside its boundaries. We prepare and file the paperwork.

SFWMD’s design criteria have the side slopes of a stormwater lake stabilized by seeding or planting, from two feet below the control elevation to one foot above it.
Littoral zones and shoreline plantingsWhat should we check before hurricane season?
The Lake Worth Drainage District advises inspecting a stormwater pond every quarter, and within 24 hours of a major storm.

Where a geotube fits, the bank is rebuilt under sod, from the water’s edge up to the lawn. On golf courses that sod is 419 or Celebration Bermuda.

3Answers
Four short answers
Who handles the permit?
We do. We prepare the permit paperwork and we file it.
South Florida stormwater lakes are permitted with side slopes no steeper than 4:1 down to two feet below the control elevation (SFWMD Applicant’s Handbook Vol. II, 5.3.2(e)). There, erosion means the lake no longer matches its permit, and restoring the bank is maintenance the permit already expects.
What will it cost?
Most jobs fall between $50,000 and $500,000. The realistic minimum is about $10,000. Four things move the price: equipment access, permits, the depth and condition of the lake bottom, and the length of shoreline.
The online estimate gives you a range, not a quote, within 24 hours. The written proposal with a price range follows within 2 days of the site visit.
What is free, and what is paid?
The site visit for one lake is free, and we come within 7 days (usually sooner). The drone and sonar shoreline survey is a paid service, sold on its own. You keep the survey either way.
What do you put in writing?
A five-year workmanship warranty on what we build. There is no handover until the sod has rooted. On a geotube bank, your landscaping crew gets a walk-through and a one-page care guide at handover.
