1Survey

What it is

A measurement of your shoreline, made before anyone prices a repair.

A drone maps the bank above the waterline. Sonar measures the bottom below it.

The survey is a paid service, sold on its own. You do not have to order any work from us, and you keep the survey either way.

A board or a city can use it as the basis for a budget.

What the survey records

  • A 3D model of the bank, above and below the waterline.
  • The depths.
  • The bank line.

2Reason

Why it exists

We measure before we price.

A walk along the bank does not check the lake every ten feet. So a proposal can count one tube where the water turns out to need two. That is a change order, and nobody enjoys those.

The survey records what a walk cannot see: the bank below the waterline.

It does not rule out a change on site. It means the price starts from depths that were measured.

A lake at low water. A wide strip of bare, sandy lake bed with a few tufts of grass lies between a lawn and the water. A low concrete box with a grate on top stands at the edge on the left, and pale stones lie in the foreground.

Where the free site visit ends and the survey begins

One lake is a free site visit. Several lakes, or a whole community, is the paid survey.

The free site visit

  • One lake.
  • Within 7 days (usually sooner).
  • A walk along the shoreline. We check the shelf under the water with a grade rod. The rest is a visual check.
  • A written proposal with a price range within 2 days of the visit.

The paid survey

  • Several lakes, or a whole community.
  • One lake with a long or deep shoreline, where we offer it before we price.
  • Drone above the waterline, sonar below it. A 3D model of the bank, the depths and the bank line.
  • Always paid. The drone and sonar are never part of the free visit.
